PHASE II Begins after quotes are gathered and ends with first shipment.
“Marketing Your Product”
Trying to take a single product to market can be daunting. We can safely say the key cause of failure in new product projects is an inability to get the product to market. As our ‘thank you’ for your patronage, you will receive our simple to understand, yet comprehensive sales and marketing tutorial "Marketing Your Product."
This is a thorough explanation of how your single product may best be positioned, priced, and sold effectively, depending on where you are attempting to sell it. It also covers the pitfalls, drawbacks, benefits and level of difficulty to sell into a variety of channels including ‘shop at home,' webstore selling, retail and more. We talk about sales reps, distributors, ‘manu-pacturers,' ‘private labeling’ strategies and more. Our customers have asked for this time and time again. Now you can benefit from the years of sales and marketing experience of the Access team.
Vendor Selection
Phase II begins with review of all information gathered by Access regarding the potential vendors. The quotations are only a part of the information. The factories’ history, strengths, weaknesses, capabilities, pricing, and program terms are all provided and discussed at length with you in an easy to understand spreadsheet. Armed with this information and after consultation with Access, you’ll select the vendor you wish to secure.
Final Design Adjustments
Last minute design changes, if any, that need incorporation will be discussed and passed to the manufacturer for review and comment. The factory will either confirm the previous quote or make modifications based on your changes.
Initial Purchase Order
Your purchase order will now be placed, based on final spec and requiring sample approval. The factory will issue a proforma invoice detailing their understanding of the order and its terms, including projected completion date. You’ll review, sign, and return the proforma, confirming the purchase.
When you make the down payment the sample making process will begin. Your order will ship 6-8 weeks after you approve the final sample.
Tooling and Pre-Production Samples
Should the product require custom tools or injection molds, you will likely be asked to pay for this in advance. Occasionally, manufacturers will agree to amortize your tooling responsibility over a given quantity of units then lower the price. It depends on the vendor, product, tooling cost, and other pertinent issues. Plastic injection tooling usually takes approximately 12 weeks to complete.
Often we can obtain prototypes. You may be asked to pay for prototypes, perhaps including the freight costs to get them to you. Usually the prototype cost is waived if you have placed your purchase order and initial down payment.
Artwork and Packaging
Your company will provide all packaging design and text, working with Access to assure success at all stages. We can refer you to a designer, should you need one. Artwork will be sent from your company or packaging designer directly to the Asian vendor. He will then provide print "proofs" in about 10 days for review. After signing off on the proofs, the vendor will order the packaging and have it ready for the production stage.
When the order is ready to ship, we will arrange for the goods to be passed to your chosen freight forwarder for transportation to the destination of your choice.
Production and Inspection
Approximately 4 weeks after final sample approval, the production run will occur. Depending on your product and the order size, this can take from a few days to a few weeks to complete. We generally suggest that Access be on site for inspection of the first order to meet the specifications you have established with our assistance. Alternatively, independent inspection can be arranged.
Order Shipment
After completion and inspection, the goods will be delivered to your forwarder for shipment. Payment terms vary by manufacturer, but your final payment will be due no later than when copies of the shipping documents are provided to you. This ends Phase II.
